USGA Golfer App
The Business Problem:
USGA released their Golfer app back in 2013 with very basic functionality. Very little has changed since it's launch. Their goals are to expand their audience and increase time spent in the app.

The User Needs:
We interviewed existing users and found they just use the app to post scores. They were unaware many features the app offers since they are buried in menus and on the bottom of screens. Additionally, the app is lacking the most basic features all of the competition offers.

The Solution:
We worked with USGA to prioritize new features, enhancements to existing features, and reimagine the app's navigation.

My Role:
Product Strategy, UX Strategy and Creative Lead. We are working in design sprints passing assets to Dev as they are completed. We've conducted A/B usability testing in the middle of design to ensure user needs are met and the best concept is developed.

Key Deliverables
Discovery

During the first three weeks of the project, we familiarized ourselves with the current state and competition. We also familiarized ourselves with key stakeholders and users by conducting interviews. All of this work led to our first workshop with the client where we discussed our findings and recommendations.

During the last three weeks of Discovery, we worked directly with the product owner and stakeholders to define our target persona, features/epics, user flows, user stories, rough wireframes for Sprint 1 and creative approach.

Design Sprint

One of the unique challenges posed to us by the client was a requirement to allow golf associations to brand the mobile app. We conducted an assessment of the branding currently out there, and proposed a color palette and system for customization.

As user stories were refined, we revised our wireframe concepts and conducted A/B usability testing.

Based on our usability study findings, final tweaks were made to our wireframes and visual design produced customizable screens for the first sprint on iOS and Android.
